About This Blog

Welcome to my blog! My blog title is  “Body Mind  Soul”  and I post those sections everyday because I strongly feel to live a healthy lifestyle, I have to nourish all aspects of my life not just my stomach!

I try to do something for my body each day , whether it needs rest, a run, yoga or some strength training, I write about what I’ve done that day to keep my body healthy. Likewise, I do the same for the mind section, usually involving some of my class information and for the soul section, what made me really happy or what was fufilling my soul each day.  I also post everything I eat, everyday. 

I should say that it is mostly everything, sometimes I just didn’t have my camera, or the photo didn’t turn out-but in that case I usually make note of it. I enjoy eating healthy and showing others exactly what I eat in hopes of inspiring them to eat healthy as well.

 I am currently working on a master’s degree in Nutrition and enjoying every minute! I have been an exercise NUT since I can remember. In high school and college I was on track, played volleyball, dance, gymnastics and cheerleading. Having been out of college for several years now,  I decided to train for a marathon and injured my knee halfway through. I recovered from that and have been running again, not formally training yet. I have that intention everyday though, to complete my first marathon this year in 2009.  

I think one of my biggest realizations of this past year was that when I post about those three sections, it helps me hold on to an intention of keeping myself as healthy as possible.  I know that everyday I have these several areas to fufill, to keep me balanced, to keep me healthy, and to keep me HAPPY!  

Many people today face the epidemic of obesity in addition to many diet-related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and hypertension to name a few. There are so many reasons why we eat aside from the functional reason to fuel ourselves. Other reasons can be social, behavioral, emotional, to avoid problems, to comfort ourselves, to control something, to deal with stress, to be accepted by peers, and that is just a few! 

Often when we find ourselves out of balance and in my opinion,  we are probably not nourishing ourselves properly. I try to nourish myself with what I need, be it carrots or carrot cake, hugs and laughter, yoga or aerobics, wine or water. I try to never attach “good” and “bad” in terms of food.  Every food has something to offer as foods are composed of many nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Some foods may offer more nutrients than others, some might be not so healthy but may be what we need. I hope that I can show readers more of these healthier foods, easy ways to prepare tasty and healthy dishes, and a look into my life as a “future dietician”.

I love your blog and your overall message of nourishing your WHOLE body. Part of me yearns to go back to school to get a nutrition degree or have a career in wellness – what was your major undergrad? Did you ever have another career? If so, what made you change? Sorry – I would have asked you all of this in a FAQ section, but I didnt see one.

I really enjoy reading your blog and am so inspired by your outlook on health, food, fitness, and life. As someone struggling to recover from an eating disorder, it is so helpful to see what someone with such a healthy outlook on eating and food eats everyday. I found out all Stevia’s are not created equal. Have you tried NuStevia by NuNaturals ?
I found it non-bitter & tasty, but a little goes a long way.
